In a remarkable display of dedication and passion for wildlife conservation, Artfamcdk’s wildlife conservationists, Rhino Kennedy and Rhino Kelvin, successfully completed the "Saving the World’s Last Females Northern White Rhinos; #205KMS Walk for Fatu & Najin". The ambitious journey took place from August 30th to September 22nd, 2021, covering a distance of 205 kilometers on foot from Nairobi to Nanyuki/Ol Pejeta Conservancy.

Walking for a Cause

Driven by their commitment to protect the last two northern white rhinos, Fatu and Najin, the two conservationists set out on foot to raise awareness and funds for rhino conservation. Their goal was not only to highlight the critical plight of these majestic animals but also to inspire people worldwide to support wildlife preservation efforts.

The journey began on August 30th, 2021, in Nairobi, as Rhino Kennedy and Rhino Kelvin took their first steps towards Ol Pejeta Conservancy, the home of Fatu and Najin. The walk covered rugged terrains, open savannahs, and bustling towns, demonstrating the challenges that conservationists face daily.

Raising Funds and Awareness

Throughout the 23-day walk, the duo engaged with local communities, wildlife enthusiasts, and conservation supporters, sharing stories about the importance of saving the northern white rhinos. Through their passionate advocacy and public interactions, they managed to raise significant support for the cause.

Their efforts paid off, as the walk successfully raised over USD 4,700, which was donated to Ol Pejeta Conservancy. These funds were specifically directed towards safeguarding the rhino population and supporting ongoing conservation initiatives at the conservancy.

An Emotional Arrival at Ol Pejeta

On September 22nd, 2021, the conservation duo triumphantly arrived at Ol Pejeta Conservancy, where they were warmly welcomed by the conservancy team and local supporters. The moment was filled with joy, relief, and a profound sense of accomplishment. Meeting Fatu and Najin up close was a deeply emotional experience for both Rhino Kennedy and Rhino Kelvin, as they reflected on the purpose behind their challenging journey.

Why the Walk Mattered

This historic walk was more than just a physical feat—it was a powerful statement of hope, dedication, and the urgent need for conservation. The funds raised through the walk were vital in supporting Ol Pejeta Conservancy’s ongoing efforts to protect rhinos and other wildlife species under their care.

The initiative also served as a reminder that individual actions can make a significant difference in wildlife conservation. By walking 205 kilometers, Rhino Kennedy and Rhino Kelvin demonstrated the lengths to which committed conservationists are willing to go to secure a future for endangered species.
